H20 RACING IN TALKS WITH UIM NATIONAL AUTHORITIES

Monday, 1 April: H2O Racing is currently holding talks with the sports UIM National Authorities and is confident of a strong line up for this year’s UIM H20 Nations Cup.

Over the last six years 20 UIM National Authorities have entered teams in Nations Cup and the number of new countries signing up is expected to grow further in 2019.

Each team is backed by its UIM National Authority and the unique Nations versus Nations one-make racing format, which was devised by Nicolo di San Germano and launched in Singapore in 2011, introduced a new approach to the spectacular sport of single-seater inshore circuit racing, placing the emphasis on team participation, camaraderie and spirit with overall team success rather than that of individual driver success the defining factor and ultimate goal.

The single-seater, tunnel-hull catamarans are capable of breath taking acceleration, high speeds and exceptional manoeuvrability. Each boat is approximately six metres in length, 2 metres wide, weighs 455kgs and powered by a 225HP Mercury Optimax 200XS SST engine, with each National Team running two boats with two to four drivers competing with identical hulls, engines and propeller and sharing race duties to optimise performance and results over a Grand Prix weekend.
